Do you think bowties are effeminate?
no!
They remind of me violin players in tuxedos. (oh, okay, I had a crush on a violin player once...well, okay, more than one...)
Posted by: Jeannette at September 24, 2004 12:03 AMI mean...They remind me of...(Note to self, do not comment on blogs after glass of wine...ookay more than one)
Posted by: Jeannette at September 24, 2004 12:04 AMNo. I don't think they're effeminate. I do think that it takes a special kind of guy to wear one though. Not just any body can look good ina bow tie. But then again...I don't have a problem with guys wearing pink.
Posted by: Rachel at September 24, 2004 09:03 AMWithout a doubt. Only a eunich would wear a bowtie.
Posted by: Patrick at September 24, 2004 01:34 PMBowties are only acceptable while wearing a tux. No exceptions.
Posted by: heidi at September 24, 2004 06:03 PMNo, just terribly old-fashioned, to the point they look comical, like if you were to see a lady walking around in a long black dress with a big white puritan-type collar and big buckles on her shoes. Ridiculous. Where are bow-ties from? like, the 30's or 40's, or earlier? Then they went completely out and they should stay out, unless you are a clown.
Posted by: annie at September 24, 2004 10:14 PMEffiminate? no
Unusual? Yes
Plotted? Definitely... lol... but whether the observer correctly gets the message the wearer wants to send is anybody's guess.
There was an attorney at the lawfirm where I worked down in New Orleans who always wore a red bow tie... always... very good looking man... wore expensive suits... had a lovely wife and sweet babies... but I never did know the reason behind that red bow tie...
Unless it was to be remembered...
