Shannon's not happy. I don't usually blog when I'm unhappy because it makes for A Peck Of Self Pity, but I'm indulging myself at the moment. Blame the hormones. I don't think they got the memo.

Patrick found out that a mandatory school trip, which is normally scheduled for the week of Spring Break, has been rescheduled for the summer, and extended to 3 weeks. They leave May 22 and return June 7.

I'm due June 3.

There's no way out of it, and the professor is being a hard case about it. No trip, no graduation. End of story.

So what's a girl to do? Well, she has a nice long cry about it. Then she picks herself up-a little prematurely- and she has another nice long cry.

I honestly don't know what I'm going to do. If I were to be induced (shudder), he could be there for the birth, but then he'd miss the first 3 weeks of the baby's life! If he leaves and I pray that I go past my due date, I run the risk of him missing the birth all together, but not missing so much afterward.

-sniff-

Both stink.

Mandatory school trip?? What tha! There's nothing that would keep me from spending the very first days with my son. Or daughter. Whatever! Just tell Mr. Professor he's not going anywhere. Oh well, I am not being much of a help now.

Aww, Shann. I am sorry.

Oh, Baby Girl... I'm so sorry... that makes me think of your daddy not getting to meet you til you were a couple of months old... nasty old Navy... (just kidding about the Navy... they're wonderful...)

I don't suppose it would help even a little bit if the whole family wore Patrick masks and pretended for you?

Maybe you'll be late... like the 8th or 9th...

I thought everybody was induced nowadays!! It seems like it, but 2 weeks is too early to do that right?

Where is this trip? can he go and get back in time if you go into labor, then return to the class? I'm assuming not from the way you sound.

Can't you tell a little white lie and say there has developed some complication, some...oh, say...life threatening disease and you may die in childbirth and he needs to be at your side in your last moments???( Oooppps, that's kinda morbid, but you've had 2 kids so I know you'll be FINE!)

I think that's the way to go. As if the whole having a baby thing shouldn't elicit sympathy anyway!!! It doesn't for some people in this day and age! So I say, FORCE the sympathy out of them!!

Oh, that is SO WRONG! Mr. Professor must not have any children or he wouldn't be so hard-hearted about this. I mean, how can you expect someone to choose between school and family?

Well the problem has been taken care of by an unexpectedly compassionate Program Director. I was ready to go round and round with these people, but she immediately suggested a substitute and voila, problem solved. I guess its all in what mood you catch them in.

Yippee, hooray for Patrick!
But come on, be like MY husband. When you tell the story from now on, you say something like "I went in there and told that Professor off and he cowered behind his desk and gave in right away!"
