Conversation with a Visitor:
Her: Where is room 505?
Me: That's on the fifth floor. The elevators are at the end of the that hall.
Her: What do I do when I get there?
Me: Ma'am?
Her: At the elevators.
Me: *stunned for a moment* Uh... just press the "up" arrow button...
Her: And?
Me: *mouth gaping* Just take it to the fifth floor.
Her: And how do I get there?
Me: Press the number 5. *still maintaining serious face*
Her: Thank you. It's all new to me...
Me: No problem.
I have absolutely no explanation for that little encounter!
That is unbelievable! Oddly enough, I do believe it. Poor Shannon. Hers needs a raise!
Posted by: Debby at January 12, 2005 09:08 PMwell, clearly she was a time traveller from the distant past - I bet an escalator would have thrown her right over the edge. :)
Posted by: Sarcasmo at January 12, 2005 10:14 PMlol... maybe it's the first time she's visited the big city from living in a little wide-spot-in-the-road town all her life...
like when I moved from to New Orleans 25 years ago... on my first day at work, one of the girls took me to lunch at a very swanky place in the French Quarter... and there they were... revolving doors...
I'd seen them on TV but never real-live in person before... so when Diana walked into the revoling door... I followed closely behind... IN THE SAME CRESCENT...
It was hilarious... we couldn't back out... had to go forward... and were squeezed in so tight it was hard to take the baby steps we had to take to keep the going...
It still makes me laugh to think of... country girl goes to big city...
Posted by: Aunt Vickie at January 13, 2005 08:29 AMI grew up in a small town in wyoming, and didn't see an escalator until i was lke 15. I had to ride that things several times before we could leave the mall...I still have to much fun with the moving walkways in DIA :)
