This is so frustrating! Still out of touch with Patrick, though we did speak once yesterday morning. I know he's fine, but I don't know how much food he has, what the conditions are there in Baton Rouge, etc. And not knowing if the electricity is on, or when it will come back on--- it immobilizes me. I can't make a decision on when to head back into BR until I know that. I did find out that Wrenn's school is in session Thursday, but LSU won't meet again until next Tuesday.

So, what to do?

Also, I am increasingly concerned about my uncle and his wife. They live in Gulfport, and rode out the storm about five or six miles from the beach. They got a static-y call through to us Monday night and all we could make out was that they are okay. But now, water and food will begin to dwindle, and Kim has cystic fibrosis - and can't be without her medications and such. She does not need to tax her body AT ALL. Where are they? What are they eating? What are they doing??

Being incommunicado is such a helpless feeling.

Update on Clinton and Kim: Ashley talked to Clinton and he is in Jackson. He came up to get supplies and a generator but now can't get back home. He can't get in touch w/ kim, but Ashley thinks she was staying at the hospital.

Hey Hon, its me. Sorry it has taken so long to get back in touch with you, but even all the payphones have been out in our area. None of our neighbors are around for me to use their cell phones either. I finally came up to the school but the phones don't work here either! Oh well. Me and that cat are holding down the fort. It's getting a little cabin fever on me though. Last night it tried to knock a candle into the bathtub while I was in it! Stores are open here although it is a madhouse to buy anything. I stocked up on food on Saturday so I am fine for that. Our water works also, so don't worry about me. I probably wouldn't plan on coming back til at least Friday. Hang out and have a vaction. I know school starts for Wrenn tomorrow, but we may not have power for a while and that house is HOT! I think Mr. George will understand.

I'm glad you found a way to get in touch with me!! We are starting to get ansy to come home, but we'll wait until the electricity comes back on. You know me. I want my AC. We miss you though! If it was just me, I'd come down and sit in the heat with you and the cat, but we just HAD to go and have three kids, hm? :)

I emailed Mr. George, so he knows not to expect Wrenn at school tomorrow. We will stay put until you call us and give us the okay to come back in. We'll bring groceries with us, since the stores may be running low and shopping sounds like a pain.

Is the electricity off at work, too? If you have nothing to do, you might could go volunteer at one of the shelters they have set up or something. Just a thought. I talked to Rachel Huber and she said the hospital is just over run with people... I'm sure you could find something to do somewhere if you wanted to.

Anyway, we miss you, love you, and hopefully we'll talk to you soon!!

Not to break in on ya'll's conversation or anything, but I'm very glad you're safe!

We've been in minimal contact with a few friends from NOLA, not all. I'm just so overwhelmed! And to think we just moved away!

I know, J. I'm still pretty blown away by all this myself. I am so glad you guys moved when you did. God's providence, huh? I bet your parents are relieved beyond measure.

I sure hope your friends and Chris's students were evacuated. I guess it's too much to hope that they didn't suffer property damage, but if they are all safe, that's the most important thing.

Hey Shannon, I'm so glad you guys are ok. I'll be praying for your Uncle Clinton and Kim.

I am watching Foxnews, and all I see is a lot of african americans with the ater to their necks...Is that region black only? Or the white people managed to escape before the storm came?
