I wanted to write a follow up on my post-fasting condition. Last night, after I ended the fast, I felt FANTASTIC. Like all my cells have an extra boost of oxygen or something. Sweet!

Today was not bad. I spent less time in traffic, and that's a good thing. The mayor addressed the city today and promised that help is on the way. They are going to rework the stoplights, and probably add extra lanes in some of the heaviest areas. That's encouraging. Our traffic is comparable to downtown Atlanta right now, and I kid you not.

I wish I had more to write about at the moment, but I'm just chilling right now. Sometimes you have to ride the current, ya know? I'll write more when the mood hits.

PS: 30th Birthday - 4 days and counting. Hello 30!

Hey, quit that dang fasting! Eat some cake for your b-day!

I have to tell you, that is not true about ridding your body of toxins. The best thing you can do is eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water.

Be careful that your fasting doesn't become an addiction, and if you start to feel guilty when you do eat because you know you are physically capable of going without- regardless of the nagging emptiness in your stomach telling you that you are hungry-then you will know that it is time to quit fasting.

I think Annie is right - the best "diet" is a balanced one. The one I think is best is one with whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean meats -with minimal carbs. That said, if the body is so filled with toxins from all the bad processed food that we all eat - then a detox is absolutely necessary every now and then to get our bodies back to square one. You've really inspired me to do a juice cleanse. It'll be hard but the extra energy, clarity, and health benefits sound so refreshing.

Yeah, the fast is not a diet. I wouldn't replace healthy eating with a yo-yo of fasting and binging or anything like that. It's something to be done infrequently, and only if you don't have complications that would prevent you from doing it.

Annie, I respect your opinion, and you are definitely entitled to disagree with me, but I truly believe that it is a cleansing experience. I think there is substantial evidence that your body does indeed detox when you are fasting.
